APLast Friday, Aubrey Hill “stepped down” from his position as Florida’s wide receivers coach.
Exactly one week later, one of the former position coach’s players has decided to exit the Gators football program as well.
Head coach Will Muschamp confirmed this morning that wide receiver Ja’Juan Story has left the Gators and will transfer to an undetermined locale. No reason was given for the transfer, which the redshirt freshman requested yesterday.
“Ja’Juan came me to Thursday afternoon and indicated that he wanted to transfer,” Muschamp said in a statement. “He just felt like this wasn’t a good fit for him and he needed a fresh start. Ja’Juan is a good student and was a good teammate and we wish him the best of luck.”
Story was a four-star member of Muschamp’s first UF recruiting class in 2011, rated as the No. 31 player at his position coming out of high school in Brooksville, Fla. He is the 14th player overall to leave UF since Muschamp took over in December of 2010, and the fourth member of that initial class to bolt.
“I had a great experience here and met a bunch of great people,” Story said. “It is a great football program with great players and coaches. It just wasn’t the right fit for me.”
Another kid coming to terms with the fact that the Gators’ best days are behind them.
Not going too well for the Mush man. 3 defensive linemen, not there at the moment and a 4 star receiver saying bye bye. Kind of wreaks havoc with the recruiting class standings doesn’t it?
Coach Boom’s learning that it was a whole lot easier being head coach IN WAITING. Hindsight’s 20-20.
Problems at Florida???
it was thoughts he will keave when meyer left.. i was surprised they kept him… obviously he wanted to play more this yr and that was not going to happen. this says more about story and less about uf.. he was behind hammond debose and dunbar. im assuming pittman and patton already passed him on the depth chart. kid didnt want to be the 5th or 6th wr this yr
Yeah coolhorn, I’m sure Muschamp is reeaally missing being HC in waiting behind old man Brown when he’s in the midst of developing a young, talent-rich team of his own recruits and watching them flourish. Who wouldn’t want to make the jump under those conditions?
Gators will be remarkably improved this season. Overrated, I haven’t a clue who you follow nor do I care. I guarantee you that I won’t be on their blogs naysaying their program though. Way to much energy and a sad investment of time.
It concerns me about the lack of grit today’s youth have, when so many seem to run away from a challenge. It MAY be something else entirely, but it seems when the going gets tough, and you have to FIGHT for something, a lot of kids pack their bags and head for softer competition.
If you have the talent, the NFL WILL find you, no matter where you are. In the meantime, earn a degree and enjoy college.
