Texas’ new kicker has groin injury, out indefinitely

Illinois v Penn State Getty Images

Penn State transfer Anthony Fera was expected to significantly upgrade Texas’ kicking game. While that’s still very possible, any impact Fera might have has been put on hold.

Whispers that Fera was injured came out early Friday morning by way of Dan Watkins of NBC 5 in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Other UT publications began picking up on Fera’s injury before it was announced by the school that the kicker had a groin injury that will keep him out indefinitely.

“Anthony Fera came into preseason camp with a groin strain that he recently aggravated,” a UT release stated.

Fera averaged over 40 yards per punt and made 14-of-17 field goals last year for the Nittany Lions.  He was also a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award.

    The kid transfers to a school less than 3 hours away from where he grew up to be closer to family. One of whom has MS and can no longer travel to BFE, aka State College. He will still receive his degree from PSU and you call that karma? He’ll be out 4 weeks. Have fun realizing the man you idolize was a head-turning, if I don’t hear about it then it didn’t happen, legacy chasing POS.

    If I were a PSU football player, I’d transfer the hell away just to stop constantly hearing both the morons making “Pedophile State” jokes and especially “We are the victims” whiners who still refuse to understand that university leadership covered up a monster’s crimes, thus allowing them to continue, in order to avoid embarrassing the precious football program–which is why the university deserves every bit of its punishment. The victims are the kids who got abused and/or raped, not students/alumni/fans who now will watch a lower quality football team.

    Go State!!!

    It’s a kicker and he got what he deserved.

    psunick, name one player that was involved in the deal 14 years ago, you are a bigger PSU A-Hole and “hater”

    Get a life you losers that have nothing better to do than denounce kids that did nothing.

    Hey Cleveland: Disgusting university?! Really? One of the best schools academically in the nation and you’re lumping the disgusting behavior of a few to an entire body of a university…that is shameful. Yes, punishment is deserved. And stop with the “we are the victim comments.” Coach O’Brien stated he doesn’t want to hear any of that talk and the real victim are the kids. So try and keep up and stay classy…which might be a stretch based on your sub-intelligent rants.

    @luvusa

    Ignore the imbeciles.

    That’s why I love posting my comments: to get a rabid rise out of those fools. I’ll give them this: a few of them are pretty creative!

    Their responses are (usually) uplifting reading before I inject myself.

    Enjoy them. Before the authors move on to their next favorite topic to pound their chests over.

    @ steeler1nation

    So when Penn State covers up a rape in the shower it’s bad, but when the Steelers cover up one in a bath at a bar it’s OKAY? Your such a typical homer willing to point out everybody’s flaws, but your own. Enjoy cheering for a rapist in the fall.

    By the way Karma is defined by sexually assaulting an innocent women, and then blowing the Super Bowl the following year, because of your bad play(See also Big Ben)

    Good for him! Next up Redd with an ACL tear! All the worthless turncoats who left PSU and a great education for a bowl appearance, will all falter and I will laugh! LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

  13. luvusa1 says: Aug 12, 2012 2:11 AM

    Hey Cleveland: You continue to show your ignorance so just give it up…no respect for you on this forum. Try learning grammar and spelling first. Pathetic.

  14. luvusa1 says: Aug 12, 2012 2:15 AM

    @psunick

    Agree. Share of imbeciles starting with Cleveland. Zero to nothing of intelligence!

  15. clevelandschronic2 says: Aug 13, 2012 7:38 AM

    Oh my bad I didnt spell something on a comment section correct. Call the grammer police… wait lets jus cover it up. All This coming from some1 who doesnt find covering up rape disgusting. And by the way u didnt spell luv Correctly It is spelled love.

    PSU backers are really representing themselves well here. LOL. This is why you people are the scourge of the nation and the focal point of ridicule. I didn’t hear any of you hypocrites talking about “punishing the innocent” when Ohio State got hit with sanctions. Didn’t hear you championing the innocent when USC got smacked. Or at any other time previous. In fact I remember every single PSU fan reveling in Jim Tresell’s demise. For decades people had to listen to your smarmy condescension about how PSU supposedly “did it the right way” while everybody else was less of a program. Turns out your precious JoePa was just another greasy big time college football coach where wins are the most important thing.

    You wanna talk karma? THIS is karma…….coming back around to bite you people in the ass for decades of holier than thou BS. Enjoy your come uppance. It’s both fitting and well deserved. Penn State will always be associated with pedophilia. Their football program will always be remembered for pedophilia. Their most beloved figure will always be completely disgraced and remembered as an enabler of a child predator. Enjoy that legacy, because it’s going to be thrown in your faces until your dying day.

    You’re still a idiot Cleveland who apparently never made it past junior high with your sub-intelligence. You’re sad. When you can’t even put a sentence together or geez, heaven forbid can’t spell the simplest or words, no one respects you or takes you seriously. In other words, you’re irrelevant. Word is probably over your head.
