Auburn RB held out of practice for academic investigation

Auburn’s backfield was already going to miss Michael Dyer. Now the Tigers’ running back depth is getting thinner again, at least for the time being.

The Memphis Commercial-Appeal reports that freshman running back Jovon Robinson is being held out of fall practice while the NCAA investigates allegations that his high school transcript was falsified. A statement from Memphis City Schools -- Robinson is from Memphis -- says a school guidance counselor stepped down after admitting to creating a fake transcript for Robinson.

When all of this will be cleared up is, well, unclear. Robinson was a four-star back according to Rivals.com and could have earned playing time right away behind Onterio McCalebb. With each day Robinson doesn’t practice, that becomes less likely.
