APSome links from around preseason camps on a Saturday…
- OMG, Virginia Tech. Do not — I repeat, do not — wear these helmets.
- Florida State cornerback Keelin Smith will miss 1-2 weeks with a knee strain.
- Silas Redd impresses at USC practices.
- The Nittany Lions got their first commitment for the 2013 recruiting class since the sanctions.
- Notre Dame tight end Alex Welch tore his ACL and is done for the year. Welch caught one pass last year for eight yards.
Why shouldn’t VT wear those helmets? It wasn’t that long ago when they were known as the Gobblers and in fact, their field had signage: “Lane Stadium Home of the Fighting Gobblers”.
Everyone knows a Hokie is a castrated turkey, anyway.
Go Spiders! Go Tribe! Go Keydets!
(y’all won’t get it)
Richmond, William and Mary, VMI. Not that hard to understand after all.
Wow – “Inside the USC” is a terrible message board.
PSU is now somewhat of a paradox. It is an exceptional institution of higher learning yet with a stomach-churning stained reputation. This paradox will be a consideration of all potential applicants to PSU, not only the athletes, and probably some current or potential faculty members as well.
The post season bowl ban will hurt PSU. Not that PSU had excessive numbers of 4 and 5 star recruits before the scandal; I think it’s fairly safe to assume PSU will have none in the near term.
Nonetheless, for the athletes, particularly the football players, who (in their hearts) can reconcile the situation and agree to be part of the ‘way forward’ for PSU, I suspect they will be rewarded with significant playing time that might otherwise not have been available to them.
The V. Tech Helmets are an atrocity for that program.
Who in the hell decided to fix that which was not broken. Honest to God, look at Maryland’s uniforms from last year ! Those were just a complete embarrassment for them overall. I wonder if they are contemplating handing out complementary sunglasses at the beginning of each game this year.
Leave Team Uniforms and Helmets alone.
FFS !
According to the people on Black Shoe Diaries – Redd sucked, wasn’t all that good of a back, and they’re glad he is gone!
As for the abortion of college football jerseys – this has to stop!!!

A one-sentence “article” and then a link to somewhere else? You’re right, that sucks.
@ tommy57
Dude what Paradox? Maybe for football players, but a regular job doesn’t care about a football scandal. A Nuclear Engineer is still a Nuclear Engineer despite where they went to college.
