Dismissal, suspensions continue to hurt New Mexico’s depth

Bob Davie has a tough job ahead of him at New Mexico. Mike Locksley absolutely ran that program into the ground and left Davie with little to work with from a roster standpoint. As of Aug. 2, the Lobos had 74 scholarship players, seven of which were one-time walk-ons.

Those numbers just got slightly thinner.

The school announced Saturday that sophomore defensive back Zoey Williams had been dismissed from the team. Additionally, junior quarterback David Vega and sophomore defensive back Tim Foley have been suspended indefinitely. The discipline is a result of a violation of unspecified team rules that occurred Friday evening.

Foley is the most significant loss, but even he only recorded seven tackles last year as a true freshman. Still, when roster numbers are what they are for the Lobos, every loss or suspension hurts.
