APSome camp links from around college football on a Monday…
- Denard Robinson thinks he could beat Olympic gold medal winner Usain Bolt in the 40-yard dash.
- Stephen Morris is emerging as the first-string QB for Miami.
- Some Wisconsin injury updates.
- UNC’s academic fraud story now goes back to the Julius Peppers days. Your move, Mark Emmert.
- The Big East has hired a firm to help with the conference’s new TV deal.
- Good news for Northwestern: running back Treyvon Green should be good to go for the Wildcats’ season-opener. Green took a hard hit to the chest in practice last week.
- Penn State’s secondary just got a little thinner.
- No Air Force interviews for you!
- A Texas Tech safety will transfer to Southern Miss.
Bolt’s speed is in the length of his legs. He takes several fewer steps to reach 100 meters over his competitors. Denard may have better acceleration so it could be neat to see at 40 yards.
I heard them say that he takes 41 steps versus 44 for everyone else. That doesn’t mean anything. If it were that simple most of the really fast sprinters would be tall with longer strides. That actually makes it even more impressive. 3.97?? WOW. Robinson doesn’t want any parts of that! I like Robinson too.
Chris Johnson said something similar, and both he and Denard Robinson have about as good of a chance of beating the best sprinter in the history of the world as Chad Johnson has of beating Michael Phelps in the 100m free.

Guys like that are just plain deluded. Robinson, the Johnsons, etc. need a reality check and some humility. They need to accept that they don’t have world-class speed, and that what makes them special is the ability to use the speed they have very effectively in a football context. I’d take Bolt ten times out of ten against Robinson in a 40, even with pads on, but if I needed a guy to get 300yds. of total offense against Michigan State, I’d go for Robinson.
Bolt’s a projected 3.97. If Denard Robinson breaks 4.4 in an electronically-timed 40, I’ll be shocked.
Take that block away from bolt while you’re at it and let’s see. I’m positive there’s several guys in baseball and football that would beat him in the 40. After that, they’re toast.
Wasn’t Stephen Morris emerging as the first-string QB last year?
Robinson looks like Kazoo from The Flintstones in that picture. Why is he built like an 8 year old with a giant head? I can’t believe he can run the way he does after seeing that picture.
