Updated: Michael Dyer ‘tweet’ says he’s to Prairie View A&M; coach says no

It didn’t take long for former Auburn and Arkansas State running back Michael Dyer to find his new, one-year home.

Or, so we (and everyone else) thought.

A Twitter account for @Mike_Dyer5 said Monday night that he’s heading to Prairie View A&M, a SWAC member in the FCS. However, there’s another account for Dyer, @Michael5Dyer, that has not tweeted since Sept. 9.

Whether the account is a fake or not, it doesn’t matter. Panthers coach Heishma Northern said he hasn’t spoken to Dyer.

I have not contacted Mike Dyer,” Northern told Al.com. “None of my assistant coaches have, to my knowledge.

“I haven’t talked to any coaches from Auburn, I haven’t talked to any coaches from Arkansas State, I haven’t talked to his high school coaches, and I haven’t talked him.”

However, ESPN’s Joe Schad reports that, per Prairie View A&M, paperwork is the main snag for Dyer to be eligible. So, which is it? We’ll let you know when it’s official.

What were we saying about instant news?

Dyer, a former five-star running back, was dismissed from Arkansas State last month by head coach Gus Malzahn. Dyer was pulled over in March by an officer who found marijuana and a gun in the car Dyer was driving. The traffic stop occurred just a few months after Dyer transferred to the Red Wolves from Auburn.

Dyer was attempting to receive a hardship waiver from the NCAA that would allow him to play for Arkansas State immediately, but that was ultimately denied.

    Knile Davis to start with!

mrslay, basing that off the fact that lattimore blew his knee halfway through the season?! that doesn’t count….try again

Then account for the FACT that Lattimore was unstoppable with friggin’ Stephen Garcia at QB. He now has a dangerous duel-threat QB handing him the ball, along with other RB’s that will take the workload off and allow Spurrier to call packages that the defense won’t have a clue what’s coming at them. Barring injury, Lattimore WILL be in NYC the first week of December!

wait a minute, davis didn’t even play last year…what a clown for even mentioning him in the same breath as Lattimore

The sad thing about this whole farce is that, had Dyer managed to keep his nose clean at Auburn, he would have had an excellent shot to be a first-round pick in next year’s NFL Draft, perhaps even a top-10 pick with a big season. Now he likely will not go higher than the fifth round, as no team is going to risk a high pick on someone who apparently thinks he’s bigger than the team and any rules, and will like find his way into Roger Goodell’s doghouse early and often. What a waste.

I have a CCW but my friends and neighbors don`t know it,just my family.Where Dyer went wrong is hanging with a bad bunch of guys and trying to be just like them.Carry weed in his car,gun in the car,why cant he see thats wrong. No kid needs a gun on campus even Dyer. His friends knew of the gun and used it in the robbery.IMO Dyer i think knew they had it and the plans they made.Such a stupid young man to throw away a great rich future that he is doing.Guns, weed and the law don`t mix.If it was so easy for these other players to obtain the weapon then the law imo shound of kept it till he finished college.Dyer is on the wrong road now and imo its not over even jumping schools he still will carry trouble wherever he goes.dcroz is right he should of kept his nose clean while at Auburn.IMOwhy does he need a gun,no school should allow any kid to carry a weapon, look at Virginia. No lessons in firearms given at college just educations and he needs that.JMO.Dyer is a stupid young man.

I have heard nothing but good things about Marcus Lattimore’s character. He handles himself extremely well on the field, which I have witnessed. And from several people I know that know him off the field, he handles himself very well there also.

Best of luck to him. Hope Dyer gets his act together.

gatiger, you have good sources. lattimore is one of the most humble & well-mannered athletes in all of college sports!

After he’s kicked out of FCS Prairie View, he will go to Div. II Tuskegee, after kicked out of there he’ll try Div. III John’s Hopkins…
He’ll be in the NAIA by December.

What’s up with these kids making horrible decisions, when they have so much to lose. You have to know that you’re under the microscope. Make better choices!
