One would think that players in Smith’s position should have been excluded from the free agent status applied to all PSU players. Just another example of how the NCAA didn’t fully consider all the unintended consequences of this decision. Of course, they never actually consider the unintended consequences of their decisions. Expecting them to do so in this case, probably the most important decision in the history of their organization, would’ve been expecting too much.
