APSome links from around college football on a Friday…
- Mark Blaudschun says everyone needs to move on from the Penn State story.
- Not Pat Forde. He asks what Penn State’s NCAA sanctions mean for North Carolina.
- Michigan State offensive lineman Skyler Burkland is out “a week or so” with a hand injury.
- Former Florida receiver Ja’Juan Story is reportedly headed to TCU.
- West Virginia unveiled a plaque honoring former coach Bill Stewart, who died in May.
- New Mexico’s starting quarterback B.R. Holbrook has been diagnosed with chest inflammation following a hospital visit.
- Ole Miss defensive end Channing Ward got the all clear from the NCAA to compete this fall.
- As expected, Idaho will go independent in football.
- E.J. Manuel was back at practice for Florida State.
Blaudschun is “acclaimed” by whom – the National Enquirer?
Is Dr. Emmert a hypocrite to, one the one hand say things like : “One of the grave dangers stemming from our love of sports is the sports themselves can become too big to fail and too big to even challenge. The result can be an erosion of academic values that are replaced by hero worship and winning at all costs” yet, on the other hand, use the very same love of sports to negotiate BILLION dollar contracts for broadcasing rights?
Emmert better SHUT THAT SCHOOL DOWN!
Everybody wanted blood for the Penn State scandal, which I get cause if involved kids.
But a regular* NCAA violator in UNC is getting bigger and more bold as the day goes by. The cover up for the academics at Chapel Hill goes back to the Julius Pepper days. The fake class thing is something the NCAA needs to shut down and if basketball players were involved than National Championships need to be stripped also.
* = Means covered in the NCAA manual
