Minnesota State coach formally charged in child porn case

Todd Hoffner

From Penn State to Minnesota State-Mankato, Wednesday has just been a bad day.

Following up on reports from yesterday, MSU head coach Todd Hoffner was formally charged Wednesday with two counts related to child pornography. Hoffner was arrested on Tuesday, four days after he was escorted from a university football field and placed on administrative leave.

An investigation began after a university official reportedly went to authorities with information on videos of children on Hoffner’s work-issued cellphone. Police have searched Hoffner’s home. Hoffner’s attorney said his client will fight the charges and plead not guilty.

Hoffner was in his fifth year with the school.

If these charges are accurate, Hoffner will pay a huge price, as he should.

I am somewhat puzzled that there are only two counts. Is the prosecutor waiting to bring other counts against him?

Usually, when such charges are brought there are dozens of counts or hundreds of counts, because each photograph or computer image equals one count.

It takes a very mature person to make fun of children being abused. I guess it makes you feel good about yourself to keep making your jokes.

You reflect the worst in human beings.

I’m correlating a senior official with other senior officials that are employed by Universities that seem to have a problem with liking young boys. If that chaps your hide, try jumping into a vat of acid head first.

First was the Catholic Church. Second was PSU and Second Mile (although all the details haven’t come out).

This is a huge national problem, and I would not be surprised if there were dozens more like PSU/TSM waiting to be discovered. No one should be surprised by these revelations.

The key here is “university official went straight to the police”.

If someone would have done this at Penn State we wouldn’t be talking about it.

Still cant believe penn state has a football program…. I would have blown the whole thing up for 10 years at least. The event tarnished the sport in 50 states from pop warner to the pros…. It deserved a perma death penalty.

As it stands, this is just over some short video clips of his own kids running around naked, but you’d have to think that there’s more to this.

Pay attention, Penn State officials and all those STILL trying to defend Penn State….THIS is how you handle a pedophile at your school.
