Getty ImagesAfter sliding down the depth chart to fourth-string quarterback, Wisconsin’s Joe Brennan made it known earlier this month that he was considering his transfer options.
Coach Bret Bielema made it clear, though, that the door was open for Brennan’s return.
“I’m not for sure that’s going to happen,” Bielema explained. “I’ve allowed him to take some time away from the program here, explore his options and get a feel for where he’s at and would welcome him back if that’s kind of the direction he wants to go.”
Apparently it isn’t. Per the Wisconsin State Journal, Bielema announced Thursday that Brennan will be transferring to 1-AA school Towson of the Colonial Athletic Association. The redshirt sophomore should be eligible to play right away.
Brennan played as Russell Wilson‘s backup in 2011 and threw for 48 yards, but fell behind transfer and eventual starter Danny O’Brien, among others, this past offseason.
Good luck, Joe. I hope you’re a high round draft choice in another few years.
It’s easy for a young man to get caught up on a sport and the want to play even if transferring to another school is an option, but seriously, the odds of being drafted QB in a non division one school is unlikely.

Oh…He’s considering Penn State?
