As if Maryland wasn’t hurt enough by injuries, the Terrapins will have to play through the first month or so of the season without another one of their defensive players.
Randy Edsall announced Friday that linebacker Kenny Tate is out for three to four weeks with a left knee injury, although surgery shouldn’t be needed. It was reported earlier this week that Tate was injured, though it wasn’t clear how long he would be sidelined.
Tate missed most of last season with an injury and was eventually granted a hardship waiver allowing him to play this season. Still, in four games last season, Tate netted 35 tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble.
Maryland has already lost starting defensive end Andre Monroe and starting quarterback C.J. Brown for the season. Injuries are piling up for the Terps and we haven’t even kicked off the season yet. This could be bad -- very bad -- for Edsall.
