Getty ImagesEveryone celebrates the arrival of college football a little differently. For Auburn center Reese Dismukes, it was apparently a week-long party beginning Friday evening.
The party ended before it ever really got started, though. Dismukes was arrested for public intoxication Friday night and released on a $300 bond, multiple media outlets reported Saturday morning through Lee County Sheriff online records.
As a result, he is facing an indefinite suspension.
The Dismukes incident comes just days after Gene Chizik confirmed that receiver DeAngelo Benton had been indefinitely suspended from the football program for violating an unspecified team rule.
Dismukes started all 13 games last season for Auburn and was listed on this year’s Rimington Trophy watch list. A suspension of any kind would most definitely be felt along Auburn’s O-line.
The Tigers open up the season in Atlanta against Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game. Coincidentally enough, the Tigers (of Clemson) have suspended one of their best playmakers in receiver Sammy Watkins for that game because of a drug-related offseason arrest.
HA – Ron White pic… nice Ben!
Never a joke without scotch rocks in hand!
criminal charge? he better get suspended indefinitely
You read the SECRant don’t ya! That Ron White joke was on there like 5 hour ago.
I don’t read SECRant, but I don’t doubt the joke was used. We’ve used “drunk in public” before as I’m sure other blogs have too.
This sometimes is copspeak for relieving oneself in public.
And also used by the cops to harass college students.
He was obviously abducted by Clemson zealots, forced to drink 80 proof Vladimir vodka and watch a video of Nick Saban getting his hair styled and dyed. This combination will make a man crazy.
Sigh … I’m beginning to feel like such a heathen. Someone at church commented to me on Prince Harry’s photos and my response was a slightly toned-down version of “If you can’t get naked in your own hotel room, where can you?” Not quite the reply she was expecting. Now here I am, an Alabama fan, thinking: “A college kid drunk around campus. Wow … call J. Edgar!”
If he was driving or creating a serious public disturbance, that’s one thing. But if he was just wobbling along or peeing against a wall at 2 in the morning … cops should have other things to do.
I agree Deb. These are college kids. College kids are known to drink a little, every now and then. What ever happenend to the cops scaring the hell out of kids then sending them home?
Lack of institutional control! 2 year bowl ban!
What goes around comes around
Actually Reese is not all that imo and can be replaced, just another smelly drunk.
