Former three-star Sooner corner now a Roadrunner

For the 2012 season, at least on the practice field, one of the top running backs at UT-San Antonio will be in the company of a very familiar face.

In a press release, UTSA announced Saturday that running back Bennett Okotcha has transferred into the Roadrunners football program from Oklahoma. The defensive back’s brother, junior Evans Okotcha, finished second on the team in rushing last season and is listed No. 2 on the most recent depth chart.

To satisfy NCAA transfer rules, Bennett Okotcha will be forced to sit out the 2012 season.

“We’re very excited to bring Bennett into our program,” UTSA head coach Larry Coker said in a statement. “We already knew a lot about him because of Evans. He is a very talented player who will help us meet our needs at an important position as we move into Conference USA in 2013.”

Okotcha was a three-star member of the Sooners’ 2011 recruiting class and took a redshirt as a true freshman last season.
