NC State CB to miss season opener

It’s not David Amerson, but North Carolina State will be down a cornerback this Friday against Tennessee.

Tom O’Brien announced Monday that senior C.J. Wilson has an eligibility issue that will sideline him for this weekend, but would not elaborate further.

He just has an issue,” O’Brien said on the conference call. “When it’s cleared up, we’ll let you know.”

Amerson has been getting the preseason hype for his All-American season in 2011, but Wilson is a three-year starter who had 31 tackles and an interception last season. Per the Charlotte News and Observer, junior Dontae Johnson has worked with the first-team defense since the start of fall camp instead of Wilson.

Tennessee will be without one of its starters too. Da’Rick Rogers was suspended indefinitely last week and has moved on to Tennessee Tech.
