Updated: Hurricane Isaac postpones South Alabama season opener

Tropical Storm Isaac has been upgraded to a hurricane, per the National Hurricane Center. Schools like LSU, Louisiana Tech and Tulane have been keeping an eye on the developing weather, but so far, the hurricane has yet to affect their kickoffs.

The same cannot be said for South Alabama, which will play its first game as a member of the FBS this weekend. In what appears to be the first official change to game time because of Isaac, USA announced that its Thursday opener against UT-San Antonio has been pushed to Saturday.

“After long consideration of numerous factors impacting the game, the logical decision is to move the game to Saturday,” the statement read. “We encourage our fans to come out, enjoy a great football game and support the Jaguars.”

Later Tuesday afternoon, Louisiana Tech announced its game with Texas A&M has been postponed (more coming later).
