Starting OU D-lineman could miss season opener against UTEP

Already down one defensive lineman (Stacy McGee, suspension), No. 4 Oklahoma could be without another for this Saturday’s season opener against UTEP.

Bob Stoops announced Wednesday that starting defensive tackle Casey Walker is questionable for the game for what he is calling a “personal issue.” Stoops wouldn’t elaborate further, and when asked if the issue was something that could keep Walker sidelined for a while, Stoops replied “I don’t know.”

Walker had 17 tackles in eight starts last season. Though he missed a portion of preseason practice with a hamstring injury, Walker has been getting praise from defensive coordinator Mike Stoops.

The Sooners shouldn’t need Walker (or McGee) against UTEP, but that’ll change once OU gets into its Big 12 schedule.
