Purdue abruptly suspends starting QB

Well, that’s no way to start a season.

An hour prior to kicking off the 2012 season against Eastern Kentucky, Purdue announced that starting quarterback Caleb TerBush has been suspended for the opener for violating unspecified team rules. The suspension is for one game.

In TerBush’s place, sixth-year senior Robert Marve will start, with Rob Henry serving as the No. 2 QB.

Last season, TerBush started all 13 games for the Boilermakers.

The decision to suspend TerBush comes a handful of days after a starter on the other side of the ball was dismissed. Linebacker Dwayne Beckford was booted from the team on Wednesday, two days after he was indefinitely suspended following yet another arrest.
