Getty ImagesIn a battle for Oklahoma’s starting tight end job throughout the summer, Geneo Grissom will instead watch his team from afar for the opener.
The Daily Oklahoman has confirmed that Grissom (pictured, No. 85) has been suspended for today’s game against UTEP for a violation of team rules. Obviously, what the violation entailed was not revealed.
Grissom had just moved to TE from the defensive line prior to summer workouts, but had been considered the likely starter heading out of camp following a competition with a JUCO transfer and true freshman.
In addition to Grissom being out, a defensive line starter is likely out as well. SoonerScoop.com reported that Casey Walker did not travel with his teammates Friday and will not play today.
Wednesday, head coach Bob Stoops announced that Walker was questionable for the game due to a “personal issue.” It was subsequently reported that the tackle was dealing with an injury unrelated to football.
Rumors in Norman are they’ve been having an issue with drug usage in the program and that has been brought to light by the Austin Box OD. They are testing more frequently and have caught several players. Jazz Reynolds and several others. Thus the suspensions.
The Squatters are 31 point favorites against crappy UTEP, so naturally Big Game Bob would suspend him. Now, if they were playing Texas or Ok State that would be different!
He’d still suspend no matter who the heck we’re playing. He doesn’t put up with that stupid nonsense.
