Smack talk is juvenile. That said, it’s time for the “Big 10″ to admit the obvious: this conference doesn’t deserve a BCS bid.
The Alabama-Michigan game looked like the varsity playing the junior varsity. Michigan was said to be a contender in the “Big 10″. Wisconsin barely held on against (what used to be called Division II) Northern Iowa. I could go on. Ohio State looked like a real deal(infused by Urban Meyer) and Nebraska looks good enough to lose to an SEC team in some bowl. That’s it.

The BIG 10 needs to be renamed the “MEDIOCRE 12″.
It is an inferior conference that would lose 90 percent of it’s games head-to-head with the SEC.
I’m ashamed of nearly the whole conference in football. It’s time the Mediocre 12 conference leaders looked at themselves in the mirror and said we have to start figuring out a way to improve the product, not just con the reporters covering the teams to keep hyping it as a mega-conference(in football) which it clearly is not.

Good post, good thoughts. What a difference to play SEC teams week end and week out, than just one game a season! Reminds me of last season when the Miss. State coach as shocked at the play of LSU on his home turf and exclaimed, (I paraphrase): “They are playing smash mouth football!” ha. Like there is any other kind of football played in the SEC? What a welcome the “new kids” will have to the SEC!

Lol!!! I find comments like these very entertaining. Mizzou might keep it close the first half but that’s it. On the otherhand, UGA did look sloppy in the first half against Buffalo. To the Mizzou fan that brought up Mizzou’s record versus the SEC, that’s irrelevant. Why? Because Mizzou won’t play Ole Miss 6 times this year. Playing the SEC in one bowl game or regular season game is not the same as playing an SEC schedule, get the through your heads. Mizzou might wn vs UGA, there are still 6 other SEC east teams they got to play. Hell, South Carolina beat UGA and still didn’t make the SEC championship game. UGA will not take this game likely, I will. What the hell has Mizzou done lately? I’ll start calling them MizWho until they prove otherwise!!!

to kcroberto10: Those improvements at the “zou” will be financed by original SEC football programs that sell 90,000 to 100,00 seats every home game and pull in more bowl and TV revenue than Mizzou ever dreamed about. You say to forget the past; but you never have won any championsips in the last 5, 10, 15 or 20 years. Mizzou is a dogmeat football program, and who cares about basketball? The programs that have lousy football programs.

I think there are going to be a lot of people who will have there eyes opened by Missouri this yr. This program has won at least 8 games a yr for the last 6 yrs in what was arguably the 2nd best conference during that time span. Don’t forget this team has beaten Oklahoma and Texas at the zou the last couple yrs, they are well thought of programs. So it won’t be surprising to me to see them not only be competitive but win the east divison this yr and yrs to come. It’s not about your schools past its about its about its future and with the amount of dollars and facilities upgrades they are making at the zou the future can be very bright indeed. Also we won’t just be competitive in football u boys in the sec are going to see a very very good basketball program as well. Who may very well be entering the conference as the 2nd best team in it.

I wonder if Sheldon knows when the great Mizzou football program won it’s last championship of any kind? Well, it was 1969, at least 20 years before he was born. UGA will have to play in their cheezy little stadium that only seats 62,000 because fans buy Cardinal season tickets, not Mizzou tickets. In case Sheldon is not aware, this means a big loss of revenue for SEC teams to support a weak sister. The Mizzou football program is one jump ahead of Kentucky; but they do have impressive wins over Kansas, Iowa State, Baylor, Texas Tech, etc.

Somehow I missed Texas Tech playing for the National Championship; but I know Mizzou has not any championships lately. Come on down and collect your big paychecks at stadiums almost twice the size of yours. You will need the money to buy better players

Not only will the quote be UGA’s wall, it will be on Indiana’s wall on 9-21-13. The “Old Man” football he talks about includes playing defense. That’s something most current and former Big 12 schools don’t do. I would love to see a second tier B1G school like Indiana knock off Mizzou.

If he were to brag about how his team was going to crush Alabama, LSU or even Arkansas I would say he has more mouth than ability. However, he is talking about the dogs. Though it is not a given, it is not impossible for Missouri to win this game. They may beat Florida, S. Carolina and a few others also. Just not sure yet. One thing is sure though. They are playing in Missouri and the dogs have a lot of missing players.

Nebraska admitted that the switch to the Big Ten was a bigger change for them than they expected. Mizzou will probably encounter the same moving to the SEC. However, I like Mizzou and wish them the best. It won’t be easy. As for Richardson, he should let the team’s play on the field do the talking and keep his pie hole shut.

Sheldon’s comments will be plastered on the UGA locker room walls. UGA players will see his face and read his comments each time they come into and exit the locker room. They will talk to one another about it. He painted a bullseye on himself.

Mizzou will give a game of it, but the problems the Bulldogs had in the first half against Buffalo may not extend to this upcoming game. The first game jitters may be out and UGA may come with a game plan and now with greater motivation.

It sure is best when players keep their mouths shut and do not give this kind of motivation to the other team.

As a huge MU fan, I love Richardson’s swagger. MU is much more prepared for the SEC than people realize. However, while this may get your teammates fired up, it also wakes Georgia up as well. This is gonna be a dog fight. Can’t Wait for the game. M-I-Z !

There was no Big 12 in the 1970s. Mizzou was in the Big 8.
Texas Tech has never won a mythical national championship, and was in the Southwest Conference in the 1970s.

Question, when was the last time Texas tech played for a natl championship? I’m thinking never, but I’m only 32, so I don’t remember the 70′s when the big 12 mattered. I think mizzou may be in for a rude awakening.
