APAfter barely sneaking past an FCS program in the opener, Maryland’s given the player who scored the game-winning — and only — touchdown a promotion.
Head coach Randy Edsall announced Sunday that Justus Pickett will be the starter at running back when the Terps take the field this weekend against Temple. Pickett will replace Albert Reid, the true freshman who started the opener against William & Mary.
Pickett led the Terps in rushing with 45 yards on 11 carries and provided the team’s only scoring, a six-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter of what would become a 7-6 win.
Reid, who was in the starting lineup due to projected starter Brandon Ross’ hamstring issue, averaged just over two yards on his 12 carries and fumbled once.
