Tulsa’s top WR ‘out for now’ with ‘significant knee injury’

The season-opening loss to Iowa State could continue to reverberate for Tulsa, unfortunately, deep into the 2012 campaign.

Senior wide receiver Bryan Burnham suffered what head coach Bill Blankenship described as “a significant knee injury” in the 38-23 loss to the Cyclones Saturday. Blankenship did not have a long-term prognosis for Burnham, saying only that the receiver is “certainly... out for now.”

Blankenship called the injury “heartbreaking,” which doesn’t bode well for the receiver’s availability at any point in the near future.

An MRI will be taken to determine exactly how long Burnham will be sidelined.

Burnham led the Golden Hurricane in receptions (nine) and receiving yards (90) in the opener despite going down in the third quarter with the injury. As a junior last season, he accounted for 54 receptions for 850 yards and nine touchdowns.
