APFrom the weird story archives, a woman has sued Nebraska coach Bo Pelini‘s foundation and Cornhuskers offensive coordinator Tim Beck, according to the Associated Press.
The suit, filed Tuesday, alleges the woman suffered a traumatic brain injury two years ago while participating in a football clinic known as Football 101, which raises money for breast cancer. Per the AP, the woman “fell and hit the back of her head during a drill in which a gauntlet of women struck her with blocking pads…
“Beck oversaw the drill and, according to the lawsuit, encouraged the women in the lines to “hit her.” After Morgan fell, Beck helped her to a chair on the sideline and left. Morgan alleged Beck was negligent because he failed to warn participants of the dangers of the drill and never saw to it that she received on-site medical treatment.”
The woman claims her symptoms have included headaches, nausea, slurred speech, memory loss and blurred vision. She also claims she had to go to the hospital to alleviate bleeding on her brain.
The suit is seeking over $90,000.
Crazy.
90K to pay for a “traumatic brain injury” or a 4 week cruise?
Women. Dammit.
Traumatic brain injuries cost more.
Maybe this woman was a little affected before this clinic because any traumatic brain injury which resulted in the symptoms she claims is well worth $3 million or more in lifetime medical care and pain and suffering could add another $17 mil so about a $20 million dollar law suit.
Maybe she thought the foundations insurance would settle for a small suit of $90K and they may settle just for financial reasons, but I hope they don’t. This needs to go to trial, because I think this woman will either drop her suit or it will be dismissed.
She’s after a lot more than 90k-bad reporting from the start(not just here).
Verify the doctor/hospital reports.
Whoa der!
Why didn’t they make her sign a waiver. Dumb for all parties involved…
Why didn’t they make her sign a waiver?
I’m pretty sure they did.
Crazy? Nothing Crazy but the coach made an honest mistake if the facts we just read are true. Did she have any head gear on? That’s why we put on helmets even in no pad drills. Get your reporting straight and the all the facts before writing an article like this. Bad publicity for the school and Breast Cancer. And I hope this woman truly gets the proper treatment if in fact the head injury occurred at the camp.
Signing waiver does nothing. U still can be sued. Look it up.
Another person looking for their big jackpot! If you’re that fragile you should stay home in your chair. At least I know my grandmother would own the injury but then again even at 90 she wouldn’t have gotten knocked on her ass!
I’m sure there were dozens of ambulance-chasing, money-grubbing sharks..err, I mean fine upstanding legal counselors hoping for the opportunity to represent this poor damsel in distress
I have a serious disdain for frivolous lawsuits. Bad things happen, to everyone. Einstein said his God does not play dice. However, it does seem there is a random number generator that throws hardships at us. Or, as Jethro Tull sang, ” He who makes kittens, puts snakes in the grass”.
This is a charity for breast cancer and she is suing the charity? How mean can you get? Why did she even attend the clinic? Was she trying out for some female league or something and if so, she doesn’t have what it takes to play football. I am not a sue type person and never would sue over something like that. Shame on that woman for doing so.
Say it ain’t so, Bo
Women! Can we please have football to ourselves! I dont want you reffing it, I dont want you analizing it on TV, I dont want you writing about it. You didnt play the game, go away!
