2013 Alabama commit arrested on rape, sodomy charges

Uh. Oh.

In April of this year, three-star athlete Deon Johnson verbally committed to play football for Alabama in 2013. Nearly five months later, the Spanish Fort (Ala.) high schooler is facing some very significant off-field issues that puts his future with the Tide -- or a lot of other FBS school, for that matter -- very much up in the air.

While the details are very scant at the moment, the Mobile Press-Register is reporting that Johnson was arrested Thursday evening on charges of second-degree rape and sodomy. Again, other than the alleged victim being a juvenile and her parents notifying authorities, no details of what led to the arrest have been released.

The 18-year-old Johnson has since been released on a $20,000 bond.

Rivals.com has Johnson rated as the No. 13 player at any position in the state of Alabama. As a junior last season, Johnson caught 63 passes and hauled in 19 touchdowns through the air.

In addition to the Tide, Johnson also held offers from, among others, LSU, Auburn and Mississippi State.
