Scheelhaase a game-time decision for Illini

The will-he/won’t-he saga surrounding the status of Nathan Scheelhaase will continue right up until kickoff late Saturday night.

The quarterback suffered an ankle injury in the Illini’s season-opening win over Western Michigan and missed most of the second half. He has been listed as questionable for most of this week even as he’s been able to participate in practice ahead of the Arizona State game.

A school spokesperson confirmed to the Champaign News-Gazette that no decision on the junior’s availability has been made and that it will be a game-time decision as to whether he will be under center.

Reilly O’Toole replaced Scheelhaase, who has started all 27 of the games in which he has played in his career, this past weekend, although first-year head coach Tim Beckman said earlier this week that either O’Toole or Miles Osei could get the nod if the starter is unable to go.
