Getty ImagesA nasty hit ended the day early for Wisconsin wide receiver Jared Abbrederis during what would eventually be a 10-7 loss to Oregon State last Saturday.
If Wisconsin is going to beat Utah State in Week 3 — yes, that’s a real statement — it’ll need all the help it can get on offense, which is a unit that has looked utterly lost for two straight weeks. Good news for UW, Abbrederis should be back. Bret Bielema said Monday during his weekly press conference that Abbrederis is day-to-day, but that there was a possibility he could play this week against the Aggies.
Bielema again confirmed on Tuesday that he expected Abbrederis to be back by Saturday. Abbrederis was said to be “slightly concussed.”
The junior leads the team with seven receptions this year and a pair of touchdowns. He also led the team in receiving yards last season with 933.
Of course, getting the ball to Abbrederis could continue to be a problem. Good — even adequate — offensive line play, a past staple of the Badger offense, has been hard to come by early in this 2012 season. Wisconsin “parted ways“ Mike Markuson following Saturday’s loss.
