Nebraska loses one player on each side of the ball

The inordinate number of season-ending injuries over the past few days grew on Wednesday with the announcement that Nebraska wide receiver Tyler Wullenwaber (great name) would be sidelined for the rest of the year because of a knee injury.

Bo Pelini said the injury happened during a special teams drill. Wullenwaber, a redshirt sophomore, had just two catches for 13 yards on the season.

Pelini also said that defensive tackle Chase Rome is off the team “for the foreseeable future” to deal with personal issues. The rumor is that Rome was unhappy with the amount of playing time he was (or wasn’t) receiving.

“His personal goals – and personal perception of where he should be on this football team – doesn’t match the team goals,” Pelini said.

Rome had four tackles through two games, but fell down the depth chart during last week’s loss to UCLA. In all, Nebraska’s defense has been shaky this season.
