Starting Hogs corner has gall bladder removed, too

Doubtful for this weekend’s game against No. 1 Alabama because of an above-the-shoulder injury to begin with, any doubt Tevin Mitchel would be available for Arkansas has been completely erased thanks to an unrelated medical issue.

The starting cornerback, head coach John L. Smith acknowledged Wednesday, had his gall bladder removed at some point between Saturday and today. Smith gave no indication how long the sophomore would be sidelined due to either health issue.

Mitchel had started the last eight games at corner for the Razorbacks, including the first two games this season. He’s played in 15 games and started nine games since coming to UA as a four-star member of the Razorbacks’ 2012 recruiting class.

A pair of seniors, Darius Winston and Kaelon Kelleybrew, will start in place of Mitchel.
