Duke loses starting DE indefinitely following surgery

Justin Foxx

Just as Duke is set to finish up its set of non-conference games and begin gearing up for ACC play, the Blue Devils have learned they could be without a defensive starter for at least the early portion of the conference slate.

Duke announced via a press release Thursday morning that defensive end Justin Foxx underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a ruptured ligament in the ring finger of his right hand.  The medical staff has yet to set a timetable for the redshirt junior’s return.

Foxx has started the first two games of the season, and leads the team in tackles for loss (1.5) and is tied for the lead in sacks (1.5).

In 24 career games, including 11 starts, Foxx has been credited with 60 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, 4.5 quarterback sacks, three quarterback pressures and one caused fumble.
