Corbin Berkstresser will get start at QB for Mizzou

Following up on the reports that surfaced Friday evening, starting quarterback James Franklin will not get the start for Missouri in tonight’s game against Arizona State.

ESPN announced the decision just before kickoff. Corbin Berkstresser will get the start for the Tigers. Franklin is in pads, however, so the possibility remains that he could play if needed. Franklin has been dealing with a sore shoulder following last week’s loss to Georgia. He had offseason surgery to repair a shoulder injury he suffered in spring practices.

Berkstresser isn’t the running threat that Franklin is, but he’s already carried the ball a couple of times on Missouri’s opening drive. It’ll be interesting to see how Mizzou’s offensive game plan changes, if at all, with the backup in the game.
