Toward the end of No. 1 Alabama’s 52-0 shellacking of Arkansas, the television cameras zoomed in to catch the right (throwing) hand of AJ McCarron‘s being heavily wrapped with tape on the sidelines.
The starting quarterback had his hand stepped on after a mishandled snap down by the goal line earlier in the game, and the sight of the stealth Heisman contender being attended to likely caused a heart or two in and around Tuscaloosa to skip a beat.
Don’t fret, Tide Nation. Dr. Saban says all is well with the signal caller.
“He is fine,” Nick Saban told reporters following the game. “He played with it. It didn’t bother him. He could have continued to play if we needed him to. It’s bruised.”
The issue is not expected to have any impact on the QB’s availability for the first half of next weekend’s shredding of FAU.
Against the Razorbacks, McCarron completed 11-of-16 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown in limited action. For the season, the junior has completed just over 64 percent of his passes and thrown seven touchdowns versus zero interceptions in 56 attempts.
