Getty ImagesAs if there’s even any real doubt this early in the young season, we’ll go just ahead and allow this little charade to play itself out anyway.
USC’s hopes for a run at a national title likely suffered a fatal blow down on The Farm, with the No. 2 Trojans stunned by Stanford 21-14 Saturday. ’SC, though, wasn’t the only ranked team to see its unblemished mark marred by defeat.
Four other Top 25 teams also fell from the ranks of the unbeaten — No. 10 Michigan State, No. 13 Virginia Tech, No. 22 Tennessee and No. 25 BYU, although the Spartans and Vols at least lost to ranked squads.
That leaves No. 1 Alabama… and then the rest of the 19 ranked teams still without a loss three weeks into the season. Of course, that’s merely our opinion, that the Tide is, thus far, head and shoulders and sternum above any other team in the country.
What, though, say ye? Is Alabama tops, or does another school deserve way-too-early recognition as being the best in the nation?
As always, the drill: vote below, then whine/bitch/moan in the comments section below that.
