APIn the aftermath of the devastating spinal cord injury Devon Walker suffered during a Week 2 game against Tulsa, and to the school’s credit, Tulane has been been the epitome of proactive when it comes to updates of the player’s long road to recovery.
Tuesday evening, Tulane offered up the latest on Walker’s progression.
Here’s a statement from the school that’s attributed to the senior defensive back’s parents, Booker and Inez Walker:
“We are pleased to have completed the transfer of Devon to a comprehensive in-patient rehabilitation center to continue his recovery. We want to express our appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Bill Warren and the wonderful doctors and staff of St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, who provided immediate care for our son. We’ll be forever grateful for their devotion to Devon’s well-being.
“We will now focus on the next phase of Devon’s recovery and ask that all the prayers, well-wishes and support continue with him through his journey. We appreciate everyone’s understanding of our request for privacy as we focus on his recovery.”
So is the kid gonna be paralyzed or not??? Talk about a statement with no substance. Why hide the truth? Eric Legrand’s family didn’t.
JT:
Thank you for continuing updates on Devon. Thank you also for accurately quoting his parents and their kind request for continuing prayer for Devon.

The best we can ascertain why doctors and thus Devon’s parents, Tulane, and all involved are not stating if Devon will be paralyzed is that the doctors said they do not know yet. The latest word I have heard from Devon’s doctors were they were “guardedly optimistic.”
The specialists said a few days ago that they needed more time and tests (I would take that also involves gentle stimulus of the spinal areas to see any reactions). Unless a miracle of science or a miracle of God (or combination of both) occur within a few days or week, I think we will all learn he is paralyzed.
I will be meeting with close friends of the Walker family this weekend and they may know by then.

My first instinct was to delete your post and ban your stupidity. My second notion was to leave your comment so it could be rightfully ridiculed — and then ban your stupidity.
Thankfully, I went with the latter.
Goodbye.
Phillyphan83- what are you some kind of jerk off or what? This family owes it to who exactly to update whether or not he’s paralyzed? It’s obvious the family wants privacy during this time and the fact that you actually are insinuating this family somehow owes you information because the ‘LeGrand family did’ is seriously the most….I’m seriously at a loss. I don’t even know how to describe this. I don’t even know what to say except that you smell like a scumbag.
Prayers to Devon and his family. I can’t wait to see you walk your boys to battle one day. We’re rooting for you kid.
I had heard rumors that Philly fans were the worst sports fans. I did not know they were stupid, insipid, uncaring, and scumbags. With phillyphannn83, I now know it is true.
Wish there was more that I could do than just one thumbs down.
Glad to know a ban will be implemented for this idiot. Appreciate it JT.
Appreciate the update JT.
@ Philly
It is better to keep your mouth shut and let one presume your ignorance, than to open it and prove it. I truly hope your mindset changes when you have your own son or daughter one day.
Wish there was more that I could do than just one thumbs down.
Well said. F–king scumbag.
Appreciate the update JT, keep them coming as you get them. Thanks
Thanks for the update, this young man and his family have been in Thr thoughts and prayers of so many across our country. We will be praying for a full recovery.
Philly, would we expect anything less? Glad this piece of trash is gone.
