Updated 9/18 @ 12:45 p.m. ET: One day after it was first reported that Miami middle linebacker Denzel Perryman would miss this Saturday’s game against Georgia Tech, Al Golden confirmed the news.

Perryman was second on the team in tackles. Seeing how bad Miami’s defense has been this season, this is a loss that genuinely hurts.

Since losing to Virginia Tech 20-17 in overtime in Week 1, Georgia Tech has scored at least 50 points in back-to-back games against the powerhouse Blue Hose of Presbyterian and Virginia. Miami will try to slow Tech’s triple option, but it may be without its starting middle linebacker in the process.

According to the Miami Herald, middle linebacker Denzel Perryman (pictured, No. 52) is out for at least a week with a deeply bruised high ankle sprain. The report states that Perryman is wearing a boot and will be re-evaluated later this week.

Al Golden would only say that Perryman didn’t practice Monday and that he didn’t know his condition.

Perryman had four tackles against Bethune-Cookman and is currently second on the team with 16 tackles. He also has one interception.

Perryman is the only person on the D that knows how to tackle so I will expect GT to gain about 600 yds on the ground.

Coincidentally, the Miami fans will reportedly miss the remainder of the season. Go Canes 2013

Vols84, I think you have enough issues with you own team.

Miami’s LB depth chart was frighteningly thin prior to Perryman getting injured. GT will execute their game plan they way superior teams always do over inferior teams. UM will have no answers. This game will be painful to watch. But the post game interview with Golden, where he looks ready to explode, will be a fun one to watch.

Miami’s season will progress like all of them do. Injuries will pile up and the will grow tired of getting pushed around and will essentially quit like they have done for the last 4-5 years. Not an opinion about them quitting, fact.

305fan, you need to step back with that kind of talk. Can’t have it.

Where’s Paul Dee on the ‘backer depth chart…….oh he’s dead……well his two-faced, lying, cheating, stealing antics aren’t buried.

Or is he just buried “three feet”
