Updated: Miami’s starting LB will miss game against GT

Updated 9/18 @ 12:45 p.m. ET: One day after it was first reported that Miami middle linebacker Denzel Perryman would miss this Saturday’s game against Georgia Tech, Al Golden confirmed the news.

Perryman was second on the team in tackles. Seeing how bad Miami’s defense has been this season, this is a loss that genuinely hurts.

Since losing to Virginia Tech 20-17 in overtime in Week 1, Georgia Tech has scored at least 50 points in back-to-back games against the powerhouse Blue Hose of Presbyterian and Virginia. Miami will try to slow Tech’s triple option, but it may be without its starting middle linebacker in the process.

According to the Miami Herald, middle linebacker Denzel Perryman (pictured, No. 52) is out for at least a week with a deeply bruised high ankle sprain. The report states that Perryman is wearing a boot and will be re-evaluated later this week.

Al Golden would only say that Perryman didn’t practice Monday and that he didn’t know his condition.

Perryman had four tackles against Bethune-Cookman and is currently second on the team with 16 tackles. He also has one interception.
