Three Kentucky players hit with pot possession

(Gasp!)

Here at CFT, we know that nothing gets your blood boiling like a group of football players sticking it to the man by smoking the marijuana. That’s why we make sure to bring it your attention each and every time it happens.

The latest offenders? Kentucky running back Raymond Sanders, cornerback Marcus Caffey and wide receiver Bookie Cobbins. According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, all three were charged with possession of marijuana by campus police late last week. The incident report states an officer on patrol noticed a “strong scent of marijuana was coming from the basement area” of an apartment building. When asked, all three players admitted to using.

Sanders and Cobbins were suspended for last Saturday’s game against Western Kentucky; Caffey is sitting out this season because of academic issues. However, the former two will be back with the team this weekend against Florida.

“Kids don’t always do all the things right,” coach Joker Phillips said. “We hold our kids accountable. We disciplined right away. We don’t wait. We try to get as many of the facts as we possibly can. We got them on Friday and we disciplined right away.”
