Jarvis Jones: ‘I’m gonna play’

As far as Jarvis Jones is concerned, no one should be concerned about his availability for Georgia’s second SEC game of the 2012 season.

The All-American linebacker suffered a groin injury prior to the Week 2 conference win over Missouri, and was then held out the following weekend against FAU, likely as a precautionary measure given level of that Saturday’s competition.

With Vanderbilt heading into Athens, however, Jones declared after practice Tuesday that he’s “gonna play” and, given how his treatment has gone, is not concerned about his availability.

I’m fine. I’ve been treating it ever since it happened,” Jones said. “I’m just getting back in the groove. They put me back out there this week. We’re taking it slow, we ain’t trying to do nothing fast and probably re-injure myself. It’s a process. I’ll be fine.”

Jones’ 3.5 sacks are tied for 10th in the nation, while also adding 4.5 tackles for loss, 17 total tackles, 11 hits on the quarterback and one interception.
