How is USC overrated every year like ND? We were picked to lose 5 games last year (ASU, Cal, Stanford, ND, and Oregon). Instead, we only lost two. Had we been bowl eligible, we would've won the South and played Oregon again...at team that never led the entire game when we beat them the first time. Injuries happen to every team, but an injury is a bigger deal to a team with 75 (usc) players on scholarship vs 85 (everyone else)

The NCAA recognizes USC as the winner of 11 national championships. How many does LSU have? One thing is for sure: USC doesn’t just lay a fat egg in the national title game.

--------------------------------------------------

You're right. They usually just choke against Oregon State or UCLA.

Can't say they lay an egg against Stanford, since Stanford owns USC. Four in a row.

Too bad your team isn't the best in their own state, much less their own conference, much less college football.

I'm glad you enjoy Kiffen. A loser in the NFL, barely average in the SEC. Hasn't accomplished anything at SC other than falling short of expectations. Just like he has everywhere else. Daddy can only do so much.

Using injuries as an excuse is the lament of a loser.

USC has done nothing in over five years. Florida and LSU each won as many national titles in the last decade. USC has become Notre Dame. A once powerful football team who is overrated every year. With frontrunning fans who make excuses and talk about the past, because that's all they have.

Enjoy another year of irrelevancy. At least Matt Barkley can say he got a Holiday Bowl ring out of his senior year.

Since he isn't getting anything else.

I see it all of the time. When you get blown out of the water or someone refutes USC, you call the jealous. Just an attempt to categorize and discount.

As far as going on other articles looking for you to comment, that's just stupid and a weird assumption on your part. Once again, your the person who talks up USC the most, and it was strange that you weren't on those threads. Other people noticed it as well. I went on those articles to read them. As far as you commenting or being a chickensh*t when your team loses, I just find it entertaining.

As far as your team being winded, you have 75 players on the roster: 75. That's plenty of people to switch in and out so that they don't get winded. How many teams go that deep into their roster during a game? And every team has injuries. Please. USC has plenty of depth.

Before Stanford, USC was this all powerful juggernaut this year.

Now listen to the whining: We have injuries. Our players are winded because we only have 75 players on our roster. But Stanford is a top 25 team. The press isn't respecting Kiffin. Wah-Wah-Wah.

If you need to rely on USC history because your team hasn't performed well in the recent past, that's fine. It's sad, but fine. Maybe they can get some trophies for sending the most players to the NFL or having the best bowl winning percentage. That would be helpful, wouldn't it.

And as for USC not laying an egg in the title game: At least LSU has been there twice in the last 5 years, winning once. Where has USC been?

Oh that's right. They have the most pro bowlers and history. Good for USC.

Last point and I'm over this topic because it's just pathetic how much time people spend hating on Kiffin and USC, when they could spend it supporting their own team. People are so worried and concerned about USC. Concern yourselves with your own program. The Trojans feed on your hate. We played with a huge chip on our shoulder last year and began dominating. Careful, because it may just happen again.

The Point: Before the season began, Lane Kiffin specifically instilled rules about injuries. Despite all of that, the press STILL asks him questions about injuries. Lane calmly responds "no comment" but reiterates that he WILL NOT DISCUSS INJURIES. His rule. His team. Your tears. Clown reporter, Scott Wolf, violates the rule and Kiffin bans him. Haden has the ban lifted and Wolf, who still spells players' names incorrectly gets to report on USC again. AGAIN, a reporter asks Lane about an injury. As to avoid a Saban-like explosion moment, Kiffin walks off. Media is persistent on wasting his time. There were several articles on ESPN and here talking about Saban's meltdown. I never once commented or said a bad thing about it. Again, I only concern myself with my team. Kiffin bans a reporter and all hell breaks loose. It's completely ridiculous. Saban is allowed to say whatever he wants. His football team. If he really wants to spend time persuading us that Western Kentucky has a shot against Alabama, that's his deal. Kiffin made his rules. Media doesn't respect the rules. Not Kiff's fault.

normtide and Deb both do not like Kiffin. But they are level headed enough to agree that Kiffin did nothing wrong here.

I am so sorry that you all thought Kiffin would amount to nothing at USC. I think it's time to get over all that. He has more wins and fewer losses in his first two seasons than Pete Carroll had. The guy broke the longest home winning streak in the nation last year and went 10-2 in the middle of some of the most egregious sanctions. Who else can do that? Penn State? I don't think so.

Everyone, meet frank booth. The most jealous person in the world. I know what conspicuous means. What I found weird is that you went on these other supposed articles looking for me to comment. That's odd. There's got to be some kind of Megan's Law thing about that.

USC is still great. I still think they're the best. Not reeling on that. It's just too bad that depth became an issue. Without injuries, we are a lock to win every game. If you really watch the USC games, you could see that we are not a second half team because of how winded guys get. Lack of depth hurts.

It's an early season loss. Hell, LSU lost two fricking games in 2007 (same as USC) and still made it to the BCS championship game and won. The SEC seems to get passes on their losses. Not the Pac 12 (2001 USC, 2003 USC, 2008 USC, 2004 Utah, 2008 Utah....2004 Auburn was the only SEC team, but they had an extremely weak schedule). But if you want other proof, does having the best bowl winning percentage make you the best program of all time? If you want to talk wins, that is...

USC has the best bowl winning percentage (for teams that have played at least 15 bowl games). 11 NC, 7 Heismans, Most players drafted all time to NFL, most pro bowlers, and most players currently on NFL rosters. USC

Good try, papabush. Not keeping an eye on you. I guess you don't understand the meaning of the word "conspicuous". Ever heard the term "conspicuous in his absence"? That's all I was talking about. Really quite simple.

Congrats on the best starters. Didn't help against Stanford.

Keep in mind that you were the one of the main people touting USC's greatness. Don't run back for excuses now. It's too late for that. Starting teams have 22 players, plus special teams. I doubt that they are using the bottom 10 or 20 on that roster anyway. Stop whining. USC lost.

The fact that USC produces the most NFL players doesn't make them great. It just makes them the team that produces the most NFL players. Iowa (7-6 in '11, 8-5 in '10) and Cal are in the top ten list as well: Are they great? Miami is number 2. Does that make them great? Alabama is #8. Does that mean that the 7 teams ahead of them are better than them because they send more players to the NFL. Not likely. Way to destroy your own your point.

Congratulations on having a mom. I think all of us have them. When you move out of the basement, she can stop keeping an eye on you and then you can keep an eye on yourself.

Never saw any USC related posts other than the one talking about the new Top 25, which mentioned USC dropped to 13. Of course, sometimes my email inbox becomes so flooded, that I repeatedly hit DELETE and might have missed one. Cuff me, officer!

USC still has the best starting 11 on O and 11 on D. No team has a better starting roster. It's the 75 players vs everyone else's 85 that hurts us. USC has to blow teams up in the first half to win the game.

And USC is still great. Here's proof

Other than working from 7am to 10pm on Tuesday, work has since slowed. I have a mother, frank. Don't need another one keeping an eye on me. Thanks for looking out though.

As I said, you were CONSPICUOUSLY absent on USC threads after the loss (after bloviating about how great USC was) There were several threads, one relating directly to the game and a couple regarding the polls.

But you knew that already.

You're pretty much on every USC thread several times, and people noticed that you weren't around when your team lost. That's all.

As far as Kiffin, I don't think I said anything about him.

As far as no one saying anything about Saban, there were plenty of comments about him on another thread relating to his presser.

Yeah, USC has been a super power in college football. Not lately, however.

You should get back to your 14 hour day.

Never known people, other than ucla fans, to be so happy about a USC loss. I don't have a second of my time for other teams...just my own. USC must be such a feared program that people, with no stake in the program/ fans not even in same conference, celebrate when the Trojans lose. Did anyone see the stanford fans rush the field? Stanford was ranked in top 25. They were playing at home. And they acted like they were Appalachian State knocking off Michigan!!! Like when 9/11 happened and you saw clips of people from all over the Middle East dancing in the street. Guess that means USC is a superpower of college football. But even superpowers aren't invincible as noted from Obama's last four abysmal years. USC's arrogance will continue as will everyone else's jealousy. You can stop praying to Allah (or whatever football god you believe in)...we're not going anywhere.

Little scary that you're keeping track of where I am and what I am doing. What articles about USC were out recently? These lane Kiffin ones are so pathetic. Kiffin is on record repeating himself about his rules and not commenting on injured players. Yet, this continues to fall on deaf ears. People need to relax about Kiffin. Doesn't look good for the haters. Just comes off as jealous. You got Saban going crazy blowing smoke up our ass about western Kentucky and no one says anything. As the several Kiffin haters above said "he did nothing wrong. It's his football team and his rules."

Of course the NFL's injury policy is in place to serve Vegas--that's the only logical reason for it. There's certainly no competitive advantage in letting your opponent know who's injured, where they're injured, and how badly they're injured in advance of the game. But you'll notice that when I tried to say that, people got their panties all twisted. But hey ... I'm used to people getting their panties twisted when I comment here LOL That's part of the fun ;)

Deb!,
The NFL will not admit it, but their injury policy is in place for vegas. But, as you stated, college has no injury report policy. However, the bama v ark game was a good example: while J L Smith was spending time formalating a ruse, Saban and his staff was preparing an actual gameplan. Imo, Kiffen should worry more about gameplans then smiting the media, but hey, I don't make millions to coach. The funny thing about Smith's ploy, Ark runs the same offense, regardless if Wilson plays or not. So, the ruse was an entire waste of precious.

I think comparing Kiffin and Saban is not really a good idea, the 2 issues are not similar at all. First of all Kiffin is nothing more then a petulant little child. He gets angry because he can't handle the pressure of the moment and, in his mind, his problems are always caused by someone else (in this case, the media asking questions he doesnt like). Saban, on the other hand, knows that it's to his ADVANTAGE to force the media to prop up his opponents (if he can force them to do that somehow) because the BCS will reflect it in the strength of schedule column. Lets face it, we all know he doesnt really "respect" Western Kentucky (or anyone else for that matter) but he needs to play it out like he does and have the media play it out like he does because it helps him in the BCS. For him its more a winning strategy then anything else. They're both very much alike in their shortness of temper but that's really about it.

Al Davis wanted Jamarcus Russell. Kiffin didn’t. Go ahead, side with Al. Dumb and deceased

Jamarcus Russell was #1 on Kipers big board, they needed a QB, he missed, so does almost every top 10 pick , the alternative was Brady Quinn , & hes no Joe-Mo either buddy,

Davis has strong ties with USC ,

and if Kiffin is "EVER" successful , he can thank Al for putting him on the map,

regardless of whether it works out, creative minds have differences,

Shanahan , Gruden, Kiffin ,

all got first gigs with Al.

Kiffin has a problem with dealing with the public and the press for failures. Now he has a problem dealing with injuries, ugh! How many other coaches in the country don't divulge their injury information? You could probably count them on one hand. Kiffin is just a youngster (youngest head coach in the country) - needs a lot of growing up to do - maybe he should eat more WHEATIES - Breakfast of Champions, instead of spending time on his boat in Newport Beach. I agree with Mauldawg's comment - Kiffin's just a crybaby / can't hide from the press, so instead of taking some of the blame for last Saturday's loss - he blames crybaby Barkley and not the WHOLE OFFENSE which fell apart. He has a difficult time taking 'hits' from the press as he's a proud youngster.

Kiffin has a problem with dealing with the public and the press for failures. Now he has a problem dealing with injuries, ugh! How many other coaches in the country don’t divulge their injury information? You could probably count them on one hand.
Yes Saban gets angry when reporters say Alabama is number one or Western Kentucky is not a threat but he always gives voluntary an accurate injury report and does not play silly games with the opposition.

That kind of injury report reporting is pretty standard except for the Kiffin like coach John L. Smith of Arkansas who talks about how great his team is and then performs poorly. He like Kiffin lays public blame on his players for the loss Kiffin voted his own team number one at the beginning of the year and denied it. When the coaches poll administrators reprimanded him he resigned from the poll. Maybe best for USC if he and his poor lost father resign from USC.
