Updated: Minnesota WR released from hospital

Updated 9/21 @ 1:10 p.m. ET: Minnesota has confirmed that wide receiver Andre McDonald was released from the hospital Thursday evening after what the player described as a minor heart problem. McDonald’s issue still isn’t officially known, but he is listed as “questionable” for this Saturday’s game against Syracuse.

Minnesota freshman receiver Andre McDonald had to be admitted to the hospital Thursday for a minor heart problem, the Minnesota Daily reports.

McDonald told the paper he had a “little problem with my heart” in a phone interview Thursday afternoon. No other details about his condition were given. A university spokesperson would only confirm that McDonald was in the hospital undergoing tests.

“Andre McDonald is in the hospital and undergoing tests,” Gophers football spokesman Paul Rovnak said in a statement, via the Pioneer Press. “That is all the information I have at this time.”

McDonald, a three-star member of the Gophers’ 2012 class, has one reception so far this year. Whatever the issue, here’s hoping McDonald is out and on his way soon.
