As expected, there’s been a sizable shift inside the Top 10 of the newly-minted coaches’ poll.
Kansas State was the biggest beneficiary of a smattering upsets, leapfrogging a handful teams to No. 8 from No. 13 at the beginning of the weekend. The Wildcats’ Saturday victim, Oklahoma, tumbled all of the way out of the Top 10, dropping from No. 5 to No. 15.
Clemson’s loss to Florida State cost the Tigers six spots in the poll, coming in this weekend at No. 16. As was the case with the Associated Press, the win did nothing for FSU’s poll standing as the Seminoles stayed at No. 4.
Alabama is No. 1 in the eyes of the coaches for a third straight week. Just as in the AP poll, Oregon and LSU flipped spots, with the former now No. 2 and the latter No. 3.
The Tide received all but two of the coaches’ first-place votes, with LSU and FSU splitting the remaining two.
Georgia (No. 5), South Carolina (No. 6), West Virginia (No. 7), Stanford (No. 9) and Texas (No. 10) make up the remainder of the Top 10.
Michigan (then-No. 17), Arizona (No. 19) and UCLA (No. 21) all dropped out, replaced by a total of four teams -- Oregon State (No. 21), Baylor (No. 24) and Rutgers and Virginia Tech tied at No. 25.
