Nevada RB, WMU LB named Camp Players of the Week

With Week 4 officially in the books, it’s that time of the weekend when the national honors begin to roll out.

The first of such awards, as always, is the Walter Camp National Players of the Week, which on this particular Sunday go to a pair of players from “non-BcS” conferences -- Nevada running back Stefphon Jefferson and Western Michigan linebacker Desmond Bozeman.

Jefferson tied an NCAA record with seven total touchdowns -- six rushing, one receiving -- in Nevada’s first-ever conference game as a member of the Mountain West. The junior accounted for 246 yards of total offense in the 69-24 win over Hawaii, and currently leads the nation in rushing at 174.7 yards per game. he’s also the only player to hit double digits in rushing touchdowns (11).

Bozeman had 12 tackles, two quarterback sacks, forced a fumble and recovered one which he returned 53 yards for a touchdown in the 30-24 win over UConn, one of four MAC victories over BcS conference schools on the day.
