APA year and a half after transferring to USF, Chris Dunkley (pictured, No. 1) is finally making headlines for the Big East school, albeit for very much the wrong reason.
According to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, the wide receiver was arrested Saturday night and charged domestic violence battery. The misdemeanor count came just a couple of hours after the Bulls’ home loss to Florida State.
No details of what led to the on-campus arrest have been released. Dunkley remained jailed this morning after being booked by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at just before 2 a.m. ET.
Dunkley was one of two Florida wide receivers to announce in mid-April of last year that they were transferring from the Gators. The former four-star recruit then landed at USF a month later.
After sitting out the 2011 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules, Dunkley has four receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown this season.
Trust me. I am a charter member of the “Gator Haters”. However, why in the headline does NBC need to mention that the perp is an “Ex-Gator”? That’s yellow journalism designed to make a point (that the Gators recruit bad characters) instead of merely reporting the news. Any wonder why consumer confidence in the mainstream media is at an all time low?
JT— never saw you headline any of
Cam Newtons great Saturdays his Sr yr as
EX-Gator Cam Newton!!!!!!
Must be a slow news day!!!!
Guess there aren’t many USF fans to appeal too.
Chill out! The fact is that the kid is a former Gator. No one made that up. The rest is inferred by the reader – and probably because of the history of stories like this about the FL recruits in the past. No way to blame that on a report of the facts.
Now, let us rejoice in the “ex” part and be glad Muschamp has instilled discipline and character in his men.
exgator, can`t understand why its gator if he`s not a gator, come on guys lets get it right !!!
