One of nation’s top receivers out with broken hand

Based on the headline, bet you never guessed this was a Wake Forest story, didja?

Regardless, the Demon Deacons suffered a significant blow in their 34-27 loss to Duke Saturday, losing top wide receiver Michael Campanaro to injury. The wideout suffered a what the school said appears to be a broken right hand in the first quarter and did not return to the game.

At this point in time, it’s unclear how long Campanaro will be out.

Coming into this weekend’s action, Campanaro was fifth in the country in receptions per game (9.0) and 12th in receiving yards per game (105.2). Prior to the hand injury, Campanaro had two receptions for eight yards.
