Urban Meyer initiates Videogate 2.0 against Michigan State

Ladies, please. You’re both beautiful.

That’s what Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany may have to tell Michigan State and Ohio State after the latest video brouhaha between the two. Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said in a Monday press conference that OSU sent a video to the conference office for review. The video, from Ohio State’s 17-16 win over Sparty, appears to show MSU offensive lineman Jack Allen poking Ohio State defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins in the eye at the bottom of a pile.

You can review the video below and judge for yourself.

It’s not the first video to come under question between the two. Following Saturday’s game, Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi said that Ohio State’s previous game footage, which it is required to send to opponents, did not include presnap motions and arrived late. It was later reported by the Detroit Free Press that the issue was able to be resolved between athletic directors Mark Hollis and Gene Smith without involving the Big Ten.

As for the most recent video, I’m never one to condone any sort of dirty play, and if Allen is punished for what is a pretty obvious retaliation, then that’s fine.

But the bottom of a pile is a nasty place, and what happens there tends to stay there.
