Urban Meyer initiates Videogate 2.0 against Michigan State

Ladies, please. You’re both beautiful.

That’s what Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany may have to tell Michigan State and Ohio State after the latest video brouhaha between the two. Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said in a Monday press conference that OSU sent a video to the conference office for review. The video, from Ohio State’s 17-16 win over Sparty, appears to show MSU offensive lineman Jack Allen poking Ohio State defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins in the eye at the bottom of a pile.

You can review the video below and judge for yourself.

It’s not the first video to come under question between the two. Following Saturday’s game, Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi said that Ohio State’s previous game footage, which it is required to send to opponents, did not include presnap motions and arrived late. It was later reported by the Detroit Free Press that the issue was able to be resolved between athletic directors Mark Hollis and Gene Smith without involving the Big Ten.

As for the most recent video, I’m never one to condone any sort of dirty play, and if Allen is punished for what is a pretty obvious retaliation, then that’s fine.

But the bottom of a pile is a nasty place, and what happens there tends to stay there.

I think Urban is Polish for “dirty.”

Shades of Wade Grayson, a Dirty Arkansas Razorback… or Robert Reynolds, a dirty Buckeye gouging Jim Sorgi’s throat under the pile.

Sure looks both players have their hands in each others’ facemasks. If there’s any disciplinary action, they both should get it. Or maybe this is just Urban’s way of saying hi to Brandon Spikes.

Could have been worse, he could have kicked him in the groin like the Notre Dame player did durring the ND-Navy game.

Not only is it not the first video brouhaha involving Meyer, it’s not even the first EYE GOUGING video brouhaha involving Meyer:

Urban Meyer’s got a short memory. Guess he forgot about when Brandon Spikes did this same thing to Washaun Ealey. If I remember correctly he was suspended for the first half of a cupcake game.

    Urb’s body language is telling.
We don’t go tit-for-tat unless we’re first guilty.

Why the hell is NBC using a WordPress page?

This is the most interesting development to come out of the Big Ten all season.

    PS: It wasn’t a Buckeye ‘win’… it was a ‘Non-Loss’

Ben…the bottom of the pile isn’t Las Vegas. Dirty play is dirty play and it sounds as if you almost condone what this player did at the bottom of the pile. I’m not a fan of either team but what this player did deserves punishment. That kind of junk should not be anywhere near sport. Pathetic! Not a good reporting job either. “Judge for yourself”? Really? There’s no judging for yourself…it’s completely obvious what this player is doing. Should be at least a one game suspension.

God I love this man! All the whining coming out of Wisc and MSU about Urban and he fires back with stick this tape up your a$$!!! MAN it is going to be fun in the Big Ten while he is here pissing off the good ole boys network!

Michigan State encourages dirty play, and their leading THUG is Gholston. Their DC thinks it’s just fine to slam heads to the ground after the whistle and poke guys in the eye and their had coach loves them to play that way. Typical MSU punks….

Sparty player should get a couple games off to think about what he could do as blind any player, cheap shot.On the other hand any team Meyer coaches is no better.

Crap … I searched everywhere for this game Saturday before finally realizing it wasn’t televised in my area. Looks like I not only missed a good game, but a source of ongoing drama.
