APThere are few guarantees in football. One of them, though, is that Paul Rhoads will do Paul Rhoads things and a top 25 team will be sacrificed to Iowa State every year.
Sorry, TCU. Unfortunately, it’s your turn this time around. Iowa State went to Fort Worth and knocked the No. 15 Horned Frogs 37-23.
It didn’t help that TCU was without starting quarterback Casey Pachall, who has been suspended indefinitely after a DWI arrest, and that the offense committed five turnovers. This TCU team has been terrible at holding on to the ball this season. Play a well-coached team like Iowa State and it’s going to cost you.
This is now the third straight year that a Paul Rhoads team has knocked off at least one top 25 opponent. Things don’t get much easier for the Cyclones going forward, but Kansas State, Oklahoma and West Virginia all have to visit Ames this season. Just something to think about.
TCU has a brutal final seven games as well, so even if Pachall is able to return, this could be a rough first season in the Big 12 if this team can’t find a cure for the turnover issues.
