Tommy Rees will start for Notre Dame over Everett Golson

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly has said ad nauseum that Everett Golson will continue to be the Irish’s starting quarterback despite recent struggles.

Against Miami this evening? Not so much.

Alex Flanagan of NBC reports that last year’s starter Tommy Rees will start against the Hurricanes because Golson violated unspecified team rules. No other information, including what the violation was and how long Golson will sit, is known at this time.

Golson has thrown for 641 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions on the season. Rees (pictured) has thrown for 150 yards.
