Illinois CB doing fine, flies home with team

There was yet another scary moment in yesterday’s game between Illinois and Wisconsin when Illini cornerback Terry Hawthorne had to be taken off the field in an ambulance after colliding with Badger fullback Derek Watt on a third-quarter pass play.

The good news is that Hawthorne is going to be okay. If anything, the whole incident sounded precautionary.

‘‘Great news for Terry,’’ Tim Beckman said. ‘‘The CT scan was negative. He will be on the flight home with us.’’

Hawthorne was flagged for a personal foul penalty on the play.
