Getty ImagesDespite being arrested on a pair of misdemeanor charges early Saturday morning, Iowa starting cornerback Micah Hyde looks like he’ll continue to be the starter — at least against Michigan State this weekend.
The Hawkeyes’ most recent depth chart shows Hyde at the top of the two-deep.
Hyde was hit with counts of public intoxication and interference with official acts during Iowa’s bye weekend; he has pleaded guilty to the latter charge. Additionally, tight end Ray Hamilton was arrested early Saturday morning for presence on premise (licensed liquor establishment) after hours, and offensive lineman Drew Clark was arrested for public intoxication.
“I was disappointed to learn of the events involving three team members, as all three of these student-athletes have been good citizens during their time in our program,” Kirk Ferentz said in a statement. “We will follow protocol set by the UI student-athlete Code of Conduct, as well as taking additional measures within the program.”
A senior, Hyde is tied for third on the team with 33 tackles, and has three tackles for loss as well as a forced fumble.
Pure class in Iowa City. Not even suspended a half? A quarter? You’re going to get murdered either way. At least act like you care Ferentz.
oSSifor i’m not As tHInk as yUo dRunK I’aM.
Ferentz. He’s clearly an overrated coach, we already knew that…now it’s more evident that he’s overrated as a person, too
Ferentz has $25M guaranteed over ten years. Blame the AD and President.
They are in Iowa for the love of puck, the inebriation factor should be .35 and the drinking age should be 7.
I didn’t know Iowa played in the SEC.
Dumbass, you play in the Big11, not the SEC. Stay out of trouble.
Big 11? That’s funny.
Yep, the B1G is all about academics, class, and forging men. Winning comes after those three things. Here is a news flash, your league is just like all the rest, except for one thing, the rest are good at football.
Cmon, if Ferentz suspended every player who got arrested, he’d have no team left to take the field.
Haute Couture, that’s hilarious… of course, a hundred and ten people died from drunk drivers in Iowa last year, but hey, that’s just a real hoot, you got your hate shot in, nice job.
Translation, wins over everythang
