Oregon D-lineman reportedly suspended for DUII

Oregon is on a bye week, but that doesn’t mean news out of Eugene is on a break. The school announced Friday afternoon that starting defensive lineman Isaac Remington had been suspended “pending clarification of an incident that occurred Friday morning in Eugene.”

The “incident” is reportedly a DUII, according to the Eugene Register-Guard. The report states that Remington was ticketed at about 12:30am near Oregon’s campus, and that he was taken into custody but not jailed. Other details are scarce.

What we do know is that losing Remington to a suspension of any kind -- assuming it results in missed playing time -- is a big deal. A starter, Remington has 12 tackles on the season. If he is unable to play in any capacity going forward, true freshman and blue-chip recruit Arik Armstead would likely get the start along the Ducks’ d-line.

Oregon goes to Arizona State next Thursday.
