Shortly before halftime of the Western Kentucky-Troy game Thursday night, Trojans starting quarterback Corey Robinson was knocked out -- literally -- following a sack.
Robinson laid motionless for at least a couple of minutes before he was taken off the field in a golf cart, ultimately taken to a local emergency room for further treatment.
While Robinson was hospitalized overnight, the good news is that the redshirt junior has since been released. The school said Robinson will be evaluated daily, and his availability for next weekend’s game against FIU is undetermined.
Suffice to say, though, the hit his starting quarterback took shook Larry Blakeney a bit.
“It was a scary deal,” the Troy head coach said. “He was knocked out. He’s fine now, but we’ve just got to make sure we get him back to his normal health.”
Entering the WKU game, Robinson led the Sun Belt Conference in passing yards.
